Welcome to my latest obsession! Vintage suitcases. I want a vintage suitcase - so perfect for attractive storage which is just what i need. Now i just need to find one... This post has been brewing for a while but i was super-inspired by the lovely zoe over at conversation pieces who just posted the amazing cat beds!

flower power

These are adorable storage containers from japanese company decole. It's amazing what difference a few flowers does for me, very orla kiely and scandi influenced, i just want to start printing flowers on everything (which i may just start doing...)

super storage

.
I am becoming more and more completely OBSESSED with storage options.
I am determind to acheive the perfect minimalist house i need and take decluttering to a new level.
.
Well thats the plan anyway, actually doing this is another matter entirely. But i have good hard motivation (for a change) this week, my sister and hubby are coming to visit for the first time this coming weekend. So there is NO room for slacking AT ALL!!
.
I have a little storage project in mind, so once i've decluttered to within an inch of my life i will get started and post a few pics :)

Random mixture of storage eye candy to get me going....

clever storage

.
These old wooden boxes look stylish and unique but without trying too hard.
Love them placed next to the super sleek stool.

Such a great use for old drawers! That's all they are, painted, backed with wallpaper and placed sideways. Not my preferred colour but love the idea and the wallpaper backing.

Love this storage solution. Really wish i'd thought of doing this years ago BEFORE i had my stairs carpeted (big regret). You can't even tell there are hidden drawers there when closed. Definitely an essential project for my next house.... one day, far far away.....

object of lust

This makes me SICK with jealousy. The talented and lovely Wiz Wharton was bought this as a gift from her clearly awesome hubby. May i also add that this is the second time he has bought her a godsmackingly amazing gift, see the stunning sideboard here.

.
I really really really really really really want one, it's so gorgeous but small enough for my little home. Wiz!! Where did he get it from!!!

sexy side table

Loving this pelican side table by marc venot! I seem to have a thing about circular side tables with hidden storage just lately, maybe cause i'm a secret messy person ha :)

small hall - ikea hack or faff?

.

I've been here before - i really want something VERY similar to this two tone retro cupboard above for my hall, but it's a very narrow space, maybe not even 1 metre wide. No room for a even a little sideboard.... so of course i'm having the usual trouble finding something suitable that i like and within budget. When don't i have this problem!!!! Is it just me? I have the same problem every single time!
.
I'm currently thinking of buying the shallow nyland shoe rack from Ikea (below) and painting the front white/staining the frame darker myself?? Might even have to shorten it to just 2 sections??
.
Thing is, as i'm typing this i'm wondering if it's too much faffing....? or it could just be an ikea hack....?

hallway hassles

My brains have been working overtime to try and resolve my tiny hall storage issue....

Problem: Hall size is approx 1m x 2m (if that!) with THREE doors leading off it. Currently i have a dark brown Ikea Lack storage unit stood upright in the corner backed with 60's wallpaper displaying pretty things - all very nice but now i need hidden real storage.

Obsession: I have become obsessed with 2 tone retro units with tiny round handles like these below, but need to find one small enough for my hallway. No luck on eBay so will have to customise my own, needs to be taller than it is wide - HELP!!

Solution #1: Thinking about using the single brown/black Expedit from Ikea (below left) with the white door insert fitted sideways (below right) and maybe reduce the height. I have seen the dark brown with white insert in the store and it looked really good, but is the Expedit too big/deep??

Solution #2: Or instead of the Expedit, i could use the Bissa or Nyland shoe storage which are shallower and then paint/add handles??

sweet storage

Living in a house with zero storage i'm always obsessively on the lookout for unique small storage ideas. These wallpaper backed boxes are fab storage and so totally 'me' that i fully intend to copy!

Anyway that causes for some celebration. What better way for me to celebrate than with some 1960s/70s sideboard beauties, makes sense does it not? Any excuse.....
