sun is shining...

..... and i'm preparing my 'outdoor room' currently known as windswept tatty garden, but i'm working on it whenever we get a scrap of that rare thing called sun. Hmmm.

Quite literally. So yes... i have decided my life will be better if i have festoon lights in the garden. Anyone know what festoon lights are? Well i didn't but now i do - the big traditional party lights that kinda just look like bulbs on a black wire. I love them! Obsessed. All gardens look better with lighting at night and i will soon be able to sit in the sunroom in the evening and admire my new beauties :)

And loving the tealight candle in jars for pretty and very cheap lighting.....

These swing seats are so cool. For as long as i can remember i've always wanted one, it seems to be such a US thing? Never ever seen one in the UK, but always see them at the front of the family home in american tv and films, and it's always where the deep and meaningful heart to heart conversation takes place!

Even if by some miracle i found one for my back garden where the hell would i hang it...!? I still want one!! (love the cushions too)

outdoor room inspiration

This weekend i've suddenly switched into 'outdoor room' mode, think it's because the weather was nice enough to spend more than ten minutes in the garden!

I am focusing on the 'outdoor room' garden term as that's what i want it be. Our garden needs a damn good tidy up and after looking some inspiration pics i have decided i want some kind of low bench seat and a few injections of WHITE! I currently have lots of dark brown and well.... green, as i have to remain a lawn girl for now.

How cosy and cute is this. This is where i want to be some evenings.... yes it's nice to be indoors but i want to get all wrapped up warm with a blanket round my shoulders and sit outside drinking sheridans coffee or mulled wine. I could totally do this in my garden.... just need the fairy lights and the lanterns, they make all the difference - so damn cosy!! Sadly that view is never going to happen, i'll just have to make do with my.... wall.

Seems i am on a garden roll!! I'm going to entice Lee into the garden with a beer and fag to try and get him to help me this weekend. Do men get inspired? Do they??? ;)

I need all the inspiration i can get if i'm going to get my garden finished before Autumn, i love the idea of continuing the house into an 'outside room'. Immediate plan is to create some benches/planters with some patio slabs and an old pallet (!?!), then planting.... and in my delusional state the end result will hopefully look like these.....

Back to work today after a lovely long bank holiday weekend. I didn't find much time for blogging as i was busy painting fences & sheds at No 22, weeding my garden and.... um..... being sick from too much alcohol ;) The gorgeous weather brought all the garden fever out in me, i want to get the garden feeling like an 'outside room'. I'm imagining barbeques and lounging round in the sun with pimms..... mmmm

After my major garden obsession last year, i've already managed to get my patio laid and have pretty much decided on colour scheme.... pale stone/cream and dark brown (surprise surprise). Just need to decide on some more structural plants, and quite fancy some white peonies! I'm keeping my lawn but am loving these gardens from Charlotte Rowe Garden Design

And at night time.... the lighting makes it....
